The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) announced in a press release on Thursday September 12, that they had registered 1187 new companies in the current fiscal year. Providing details, the SECP said that almost 95% of the companies were registered online through eServices, bringing the total number of companies in Pakistan to 104,030. The SECP added that from among the newly registered companies, 38 were receiving funds from abroad, including China, Denmark, Italy, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, UK, Switzerland and the US. The newly registered companies were from different sectors, including the trading sector, Services and Construction Center, Nonprofit Organizations, Tourism sector, Real estate developers, food and beverages, marketing, textile sector, mining and quarrying sector, corporate agriculture farming, communication, power generation, fuel and energy, pharmaceutical, transport and health care sector. The registered companies were clustered in the major hubs of the country, including Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad and very few companies were based in the smaller cities of the country.
