On Sunday 3rd of November 2019, the Punjab Assembly Speaker and member of the negotiations team of the government Chaudhry Shujat Hussain talked to the JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazal and urged him to solve issues through dialogue. The two leaders spoke on the phone and Chaudhry Shujat also promised the JUI-F chief to meet him in person in the coming days.
Chaudhry Shujat congratulated Maulana Fazal on successfully organizing the march. Shujat further added that the Maulana has been accepted as the opposition leader by the PPP and the PML-N and Shehbaz Shareef is just the opposition leader in essence, while Maulana is doing the real work on the ground. Taunting his rival Shebaz Shareef, Shujat said that he doubts that Shehbaz can be of any help in the sit-in. Shujaat reportedly said to Maulana that, “Shehbaz has no place in dharna and has become the opposition leader by accident, while you are the real opposition leader.”
Shujat further told Maulana Fazal to negate the impression created due to his earlier speeches, regarding the army. He said that Maulana should follow the footsteps of his late father Mufti Mehmood and resolve the matters through dialogue.
Meanwhile, PM Imran Khan has taken a hard stance on the issue and said that he would not give NRO to the opposition, which would be equal to treachery with the country. He said on his Facebook page that, “unless they are held accountable, the country could not be put on the track of progress. They just want to hear three words ‘NRO’ from me, which I will not utter as it will amount to treachery with the country.”
