ECNEC Approves Nine Mega Projects Worth Rs579 Billion

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), headed by Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, in a meeting in the Cabinet Block on Thursday 29th of August 2019, approved 9 major development projects worth Rs579 billion. The details of the approved projects are as follows:

  • National Program for Improvement of Watercourse in Pakistan Phase-2, costing Rs152.5 billion.
  • Eight agricultural development projects worth Rs95 billion, which include the following:
  • Productivity Enhancement of Wheat Project, costing Rs3045 billion.
  • Productivity Enhancement of Rice Project, costing Rs15.79 billion.
  • Productivity Enhancement of Sugarcane Project costing, Rs4.93 billion.
  • National Oil Seed Enhancement Program Costing, Rs10.96 billion.
  • Cage Culture Cluster Development Program costing, Rs9.08 billion.
  • Pilot Shrimp Farming Cluster Development Project costing, Rs6.16 billion.
  • Water Conservation in Barani Areas of KPK costing, Rs14.18 billion.
  • PM’s Initiative for Save the Calf Project costing Rs3.4 billion.
  • Ten-billion Tree Tsunami Program Phase-1 worth Rs125.18 billion.
  • Construction of BRT Red Line Project Karachi costing Rs78.38 billion.
  • 500KV HVDC transmission system between Tajikistan and Pakistan for Central Asia-South Asia transmission Interconnection (CASA-1000), costing Rs46.8 billion.
  • Sehat Sahulat Program worth Rs31.93 billion, the project will cater to the health requirements for almost 2.7 million families.
  • Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP) Phase-1, worth Rs16.7 billion.
  • Sindh Secondary Education Improvement Program (SSEIP), worth Rs13.103 billion.
  • Interconnection of Gwadar/Makran area with the national grid system costing Rs17.4 billion.
