The gold rate, at the time of writing, has reached an ala-time high of Rs 90,000 per tola and Rs77,160 per 10 gram in Pakistan. The All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association President Haji Haroon said that the gold prices have increased after the gold rates in the international market increased by $15 to $1545 per ounce. He added that the gold rates are slowly increasing out of the reach of the common person and sales are decreasing throughout the country. He added that apart from the increasing gold rates, the government has imposed a 17.5% sales tax on jewelers, which is unacceptable. He warned of a countrywide shutter down strike, if the government maintains it’s 17.5% sales tax policy.
