Government Intends To Improve Agriculture In Pakistan

Sahibzada Muhammad Mehboob, the Federal Minister of National Food Security and Research said the government has made all the efforts to boost the agriculture industry.

However, in a conference, US spokesperson Paul Jones added that the government would have examined few areas to be developed on major concerns including agriculture automation, enhancement of cotton yield, development of oilseed, and reduced import tariffs.

The government intended to raise food productivity to strengthen food quality and better farming conditions for farmers to improve their living conditions. Moreover, the state seeks to attain objectives such as developing agricultural produce markets, and better quality agricultural output. Meanwhile on the other side, due to lack of technology, the huge amount wasted in line losses. So the main burden of increasing prices has been put on consumers. Moreover, the increase in the tariff of the agricultural sector is nominal.

This meeting takes place after the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the United States in July-2019. Jones mentioned in a meeting, that he was well aware of the fact that Pakistan is an important agricultural country.

Lastly, both countries agreed that the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister will be vital to show the chosen fields of collaboration, especially in the area of the agriculture industry.
