Huawei’s Vice President Mark Xueman had announced on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, that Huawei is planning to build it’s regional headquarters in Islamabad and is planning to invest $55 million for this purpose.
He further added that Huawei will invest $15 million in it’s technical assistance department and would increase the number of employees in the country from 600 to 800.
Moreover, the company is planning to invest a total of $100 million in Pakistan in the current fiscal year. He said that Huawei would like to start more projects in Pakistan, provided permission from the Chinese government.
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Planning Makhdom Khusro Bakhtiar welcomed Huawei’s plans. He said that Huawei should also invest in Pakistan’s IT startups and should help develop the IT sector of Pakistan.
Bakhtiar commended Huawei’s efforts to help the Higher Education Commission (HEC) regarding it’s Smart School Project.
He added that Huawei has a 25% market share in the mobile phone industry of Pakistan and is the highest taxpaying company in it’s sector.
He further said that he would offer any assistance required by the company regarding it’s plans in the country.
