On the 19th of October 2019, the Indian Army opened indiscriminate fire along many sectors of the Kashmir Line of Control (LOC). The shelling killed 4 civilians and 1 Pakistan Army soldier. The Indian Army Chief claimed that the Indian Army had successfully destroyed 4 terrorists’ launch pads in the Pakistani side of Kashmir. Responding to these attacks, the Pakistani Army targeted Indian posts and claimed to have killed 9 Indian soldiers.
On Monday 21st of October 2019, the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) wing of the Pakistani Army, took a team of foreign diplomats and media channels to the very sector that the Indian Army Chief had claimed to destroy the terror camps in. The media persons and diplomats were taken to Nausada Village, Jura Bazaar and several other places. DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor told the delegation, while passing a destroyed shop, that these are all civilian losses. He added that the difference between the Pakistan Army and the Indian Army is that the former obeys all laws of professional armies and does not target civilian areas, whereas the latter does not do either. He further added that in 2019, more than 2000 ceasefire violations have been conducted by the Indian Army, killing 44 civilians.
The district commissioner of Azad Jammu and Kashmir said that so far, 39 houses and 28 shops, 16 vehicles have been destroyed, while 98 houses have been damaged. The AJK Premier said that, “Whenever savage Indian troops target and kill non-combatant civilian population along the LOC, they lie through their teeth to justify serious breach of all international laws, conventions and military norms.”
