Addressing a press conference, the DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said that the military has no involvement in politics and has no involvement in the ‘dharnas’ occurring in Islamabad.

The General also said that the military is a neutral organization and obeys the orders of the government. He said that the military does not intervene in the political activities. He also said that Maulana should not things to the level where the military has to intervene.
Talking about the protests in Islamabad, he added that all security arrangements have been taken. Pointing towards the protests help by PTI in Islamabad, a couple of years back, he said that even on that occasion the military was on government’s side and provided security to all the major institutional buildings in that area. He said that, “As instructed, the armed forces had fulfilled its duties by protecting the important government buildings and made security arrangements.” He said that those talks were given by the government.
He added that the army would still obey the government. He said that the COAS is of the view that the military’s involvement in the political activities should be minimum. He said that COAS had even said that the military should have a minimum role in the elections as well.
