Pak Businesspersons Request Pm To Negotiate Duty Free Access To Us Markets

The Pakistani Business community expressed their hopes that the visit of PM Imran Khan to the US would bring about some positive news for the Pakistani Businessmen. They requested the PM to negotiate for a duty-free access of Pakistani goods in the US markets. The businesspersons said that they wanted access to the US markets and not aid. Chairperson of Pakistan-US Business Council Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik said that Pakistan needs access to US markets and deals regarding investments in Pakistan. He said that, “Joint efforts are needed to further cement the existing economic ties between private sectors in Pakistan and the US.” The US is currently a major export hub for Pakistan’s goods and the trade volume had previously reached almost $6.7 billion. The members stressed the need for bringing in more investments and negotiating favorable conditions of doing business, instead of going for more loans.
