Pakistan’s Mango Exports Exceed Target

Pakistan’s mango exports this season surpassed the set target and reached $80 million. The exports so far have reached 115,000 tonnes, exceeding the target of 100,000 tonnes. Patron in Chief All Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters, Importers and merchants Association (PFVA) Waheed Ahmed said that the exports would reach around 130,000 tonnes by end of October. He added that Mango exports could reach up to $200 million in the coming 5 years. He said that the prices of mango in the market remained stable this year and aggressive marketing strategies adopted by the association in partnership with the Pakistani embassies and consulates resulted in great success this season. He said that the modern farming techniques helped a lot the production of fruit and resulted in increased production and exports. He suggested the farmers to aim for high value mango markets such as Japan, US, South Korea and China.
