Gallup Pakistan, a wing of the Gallup International Association has said that the annual number of tourists visiting Pakistan’s cultural sights has increased by more than 300%. The survey added that the number of visits to cultural sights in Pakistan in 2014 was 1.6 million which had increased to 6.6 million visits by 2018. Moreover, the survey said that the situation can improve further and this all can be a real game-changer for a struggling economy of Pakistan. According to Dawn News, Bilal Gilani from Gallup Pakistan has said that they had observed an increase of 15% to 20% in the number of foreign visitors in Pakistan. The most popular destinations keep on changing but the destinations that standout are the Shalimar Garden in Lahore, HiranMinar in Sheikhupura, Jehangir’s tomb in Lahore, Takht-i-Bahi in Mardan, Lahore Museum, Taxila Museum, Moenjodaro, Larkana, Pakistan Monument Museum in Islamabad and LokVirsa Heritage Museum in Islamabad. MrGhani from Gallup Survey further added that there was still room for a lot of improvement in the tourism sector, which has huge potential in Pakistan.
